In the medieval days, Japan used to be a place full of Warriors, Emperors and Daimyo. There would be many wars, mostly fighting for land. The Japanese have always been the type for big celebrations, traditions and festivals. One of the most famous traditions in ancient japan has been the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It consists of Matcha (green tea) and traditional Japanese sweets to block the bitter taste of the tea.
In medieval japan, women were aloud to be a warrior/samurai. women were aloud to be ordered around by if you were high ranking on the social pyramid like samurai or royalty. They would not be treated well. although if you were a peasant/woman you would be treated the same as a man.

These days, they dont have samurai or shoguns. They no longer exist in this generation. The emperor of Japan today is akihito. He has been Emperor for 13 years. He was announced Emperor on January the 7th 1989.
